My web development company is called IntelligentDesignMarketing.com — and sometimes I get heat from the “techie” community because of that name since a good percentage of that industry are atheistic darwinists/naturalists.
I just had a really nice guy (he really was), tell me that he would do his website through me if I changed the name of the company. He said, “I wouldn’t trust anyone who named their company Intelligent Design.”
I asked him if my company was called “Evolutionary Design” if that would be better, and he said yes. He said that Intelligent Design (or ID) is the name given to a failed attempt by religious groups to teach myth in science classes. This, of course is nonsense, and I put excerpts of my researched response below.
However, he was right about one thing, he said from a marketing perspective — since I am targeting people from the tech industry, who are widely known as naturalistic and atheistic, my name would turn most people off and that it wasn’t smart marketing. He is absolutely right, there are probably a lot of people who see that name and are turned off.
But isn’t that being close minded? Isn’t that exactly what they would accuse people who believe in God of? In an age of scientific enlightenment, shouldn’t you drop all preconveived notions and just figure out what the facts are? If the truth really matters, then you should do exactly that — however, I am convinced that a lot of people don’t want the truth if it affects their current lifestyle or beliefs.
Here are some excerpts of my response, this was written fairly quickly so if the grammar and language isn’t totally correct then you know why. Also, please realize that my purpose of writing these emails is not to be combative or to argue, but if someone talks nonsense without providing concrete evidence, then I think it is necessary to explain what you believe and why you believe it.
“However, you are dead wrong about saying intelligent design is a “failed attempt” and that it is related to schools. You are misinformed. Darwin’s theory has never been proven, in fact it has been refuted on many levels by scientists around the world who used to be strong promoters. In an age of scientific enlightenment, Darwin’s theory doesn’t hold up. For example, for his theory of evolution to be validated we would have had to of found transitional forms in the fossil record — none have ever been found and none ever will be found. Of course, micro evolution is true (evolution within species), but to say that certain species evolved from others (a fish turned into a bird) is absurd and has no basis in reality or science.
I don’t know what schools you went to but Intelligent Design was never taught in any school I went to — even today with all of the scientific proof out there which squashes Darwinism, it is still taught as a proven fact. Darwin’s flawed theory is taught as 100% truth as if there were no other possibilities.
The thing that all atheists and Darwinists need to be honest about is that both atheism and Darwinism are forms of religion. These beliefs are held to with religious fervor even though the scientific proof is very far fetched. It takes more faith to be a Darwinist than it does to believe that a Creator designed the heavens. I used to be an atheist, but I took the time to do years of investigation and realized that there is so much evidence for creation it is overwhelming. I also realized that the “theory” I was taught as truth in school was severely lacking any true scientific validation — and I can’t believe it was and still is being taught as truth.
Even Darwin himself admitted that if transitional forms were not found in the record, then his theory would not work. So why is it still being taught as 100% truth with no alternatives? Doesn’t sound like objective science to me.”
The person then responded (very politely) with “I’ve found most people who follow things on blind faith aren’t easily convinced otherwise.”
Here is my response:
“First, I want to thank you for being pleasant about this subject, most people I talk to about this get so irate and out of control it is crazy.
However, what I believe is the farthest thing from blind-faith as you can get. I would argue that atheism and darwinism are “blind-faiths” because there is nothing in nature or science that would confirm them. Atheism is a logically fallacy - to be certain that there is no God you would require perfect knowledge of all things (omniscience) and you would have to possess Godlike characteristics which we don’t have. However, these theories are vehemently defended with very little proof — which is why I classify them as a religion. Anthony Flew, the most famous atheist of our time, has recently changed his view (although he does not believe in a Christian God) because he says that with today’s scientific evidence, naturalism is an inadequate explanation for how life began.
If you study Darwin’s writings, you will find that it is not a science — Darwin superimposed an atheistic/materialistic worldview on nature, then searched for the facts to support his theory. Read his published private notebooks and personal communication and it reveals that Darwin was an atheist and his theory of natural selection was formulated to replace a Creator with naturalistic processes. To take a preconceived notion and then make a theory out of it is not science — just like it is not a science to start out with a Creator and then trying to build a case around that premise.
Remember, I was once a full, hard core atheist and I was open minded enough to look for actual evidence and that is how I formed my beliefs — not by faith, but by actual scientific empirical evidence. That is what I would encourage you to do. It is not as if the truth isn’t easily accessible — most people don’t want to believe in a Creator because it affects their current lifestyle. However, this search can and will determine your eternal destiny. As you know, belief in something doesn’t make it true. A lot of people believed David Koresh and followed him to their death, but that doesn’t make what he taught true, in fact, it was 100% false.
So it doesn’t matter what you and I believe to be true, the only thing that matters is what is actually true — and I sincerely hope you spend the time like I did to search for that.
Thanks again, hope to talk again someday.”
